Dragon part 3

Here's the jewels. I took the original orb that was sitting on top and put a hammer to it. I kept crushing it until I had a good amount of the correct sized bits. I made a small mound of putty and sprinkled the clear pieces on top of that, then painted it as one big piece. Painting it this was was pretty bad, I had no control over the paint and I just had weird streaks and blobs of color.

Since I still had a lot of the crushed orb left over I decided to redo it. Starting new I had to find a way to colorize each crystal bit. So I put some paint in a small baggy, the kind you put sandwiches in and stuff, and added some of the crystal. I let them dry on a paper towel and when dried I added them to the top.

And that produced this, much better I think:

The blue you see all over the spire is sort of a filter. I let it soak into the crevices and raised detail, then wiped most of it away. It created a blue hue over the spire that doesn't show well in picture. It's a subtle effect for sure.

Anyways, here's the details painted. Horns, eyes, teeth, everything. The scales too are different shades of red to give it a shadow/highlight effect.

 Complete finished pictures tomorrow.

Wow man glad you posted some more detail this time round - I wish I could paint/model as well as you - any chance you could do a mini-tutorial on a simple project to get into this? (I don't think I could do a dragon just yet haha)

I was just looking at the dragon's face - it looks so pissed off, nothing could escape it's wrath!
